15th August and Independence!!!

15 Aug

It is ironical. I am celebrating independence day in the confines of my home. The police walas, the Government, the ruling regime are all in fear of terrorist activities. On the other hand, the opposition held a National Bandh in view of “Something”… Really I don’t care. All I care about is that we planned to leave home half an hour in advance to reach office to avoid burnt buses and stone pelting.

“INDEPENDENCE” day of the country really does not mean much to me. You may call it Blasphemy. That is a profane statement, and I can imagine Gandhiji turning in his grave. I have no option. I am glad to blame all existing maladies of the state on the Government.

Oh wait do I have an option? Oh yeah its called voting… And on Independence day I think the one thing that will define how independent I am is by choosing who rules the Country.

I see what you mean…and I am also quite estranged with the thought of sitting inside just because there are bomb threats and every vehicle is being whisked by authorities…

    Its sad!

    Totally agree with u..

Last year i had booked tickets to watch a movie in CP on this very day and i ended up sitting at home and not doing anything at all. Thanks to all those threats u talked abt..

But i doubt if we can avail the option of voting,to good effect, to choose “who rules the country”. Coz the ppl who rule the country use the option of choosing “who votes for them”.. Reservations n all come into picture here…

    Hi Akriti,

Not everything is bad, like roads are improving in Bihar…. How can govt. be alone responsible. When we have people richer than govt. we’ll have good cars but bad roads. Can we hold the govt. responsible for the tonnes and tonnes of empty gootka pouches strewn all over on the road? Oh yes, I forgot–it’s govt.’s duty to clean the road and citizen’s duty to litter it!
